part One: MY squeakin' streamers!!
It’s summertime in Soapuppy Land! It seems the new all the rage travel destination is the Sudsy Summer Silly Summertime Beach Fun Summer Soapwalk! For summer! It said it on the Sudsy Summer Silly Summertime Beach Fun Summer Soapwalk pamphlet! Yay!
Making your way along the boardwalk, carnival tents and colorful balloons dot the scenery, along with a variety of attractions down the walk! You grab your tickets from the emo teenager running the admissions tent, and with a hop, and a skip, and a jump…
You crash into another Soapuppy! A flash of colorful streamers pop off in your vision before falling to the ground, or, through the ground. Paper and gaps in the boardwalk don’t mix! One by one, they spindle between the slits in the walk. The streamers that escaped being trapped in the beaches’ sands blow away in the sea breeze. Your eye follows one in specific being blown into the sun. You turn back to the soapuppy that you bumped into, seeing a… puppy? Kitty? Both?
She stares into the horizon, wistfully. “My squeakin’ streamers.” She stands frozen, balloons in the dozens tethered to one paw. “My honkin’ streamers.” You swear you can see a tear well up in her eye. “My dog-gone streamers!!!” She starts quaking with sorrow at losing a handful of decorations. All the same, you get the impression they’re…probably decorating. By the decorations.
You comfort them with all of your non written words in the event story dialogue. It was very insightful and apologetic and you also ask if you can make it up to them. They wipe a tear away with their paw. The balloon tied one. It makes about 5 balloons bop them in the face.
“I’d really appreciate it if you'd be my deputy decorator!” She near-instantly lights up. “I actually still have a bunch of streamers on backup around the boardwalk! I’m just super busy with tying up all these balloons!”
She does a little skip and a jump, floating off the ground for a full second.
“There are boxes of them all over the boardwalk if you’d like to grab those and set them up for me!” She starts skipping off before you can even say a word. Not that you considered turning them down after you offered. Because maybe… the role of deputy decorator came with rewards?
